Returning your unused walking aids
How it works
Returning your unused equipment is easy with the Walking Aid equipment return initiative which is accessible to all North West Surrey residents.
Members of your community may rely on these walking aids to stay independent and in their homes, preventing costly hospital stays or care home admissions.
By returning unused equipment, we save money for essential healthcare services and help those in need.
What happens to the equipment?
When there are enough aids returned (typically around 20-30 items), the library team coordinates with the walking aid management company Millbrook to pick up the aids and ensure they are either recycled or cleaned for reuse.
The walking aids are collected from local libraries and taken to the Staines Library. They are organised and stored for the aids company to collect where they will be recycled or reused.
Where can I drop off my Walking aid?
North West Surrey residents can easily drop off their used mobility aids at any of the following participating libraries in the Staines locality:
- Ashford
- Chertsey
- Egham
- Shepperton
- Staines
- Stanwell
- Sunbury
